Premises Liability

Premises liability cases consist of accidents that take place as a result of unsafe conditions or negligent maintenance on property that is owned by someone other than the victim of the accident.  For instance, slip and fall accidents occur quite frequently, and are often caused because the property has been negligently maintained.  The accident may occur on a stairway, on a sidewalk, or a store aisle as the result of an unsafe condition.  These injuries can be very serious for the victim and result in severe pain and suffering.  Substantial medical treatment, inability to work, and physical impairment or disability can result from unsafe conditions caused by negligent property owners.

Additionally, premises liability claims involve injuries caused by dog bites.  Unfortunately, these claims often involve children, who sustain severe injuries as a result of being bitten by a dog that is either dangerous or not properly supervised or trained by its owner.

Another type of premises liability claim involves criminal assaults and attacks caused by the failure to provide adequate security of a premises.  In this scenario, a crime victim may recover from a landowner or business establishment if that owner failed to provide adequate security against criminal acts.  For example, if a person is attacked at a shopping area because there is inadequate security and/or safety measures to deter foreseeable criminal attacks.
